Claiming Chief Minister Narendra Modi had 'accorded due honour' to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Gujarat riots, Education minister Ramlal Vora on Thursday pooh-poohed demands for Modi’s resignation.
“In fact, Modiji has accorded due honour to the SIT formed by the Supreme Court to probe Gujarat riots and faced the team though no (specific) charges were framed against him,” Vora told reporters here.
To a query about Congress’ demands for Modi’s scalp with regard to the Gujarat riots, Vora wondered why should the chief minister quit.
“The Congress leaders making such demands should not forget that the party does not have a single leader against whom no charge had been framed. By the same logic all of them then will have to step down,” Vora countered.
“What about the post-Gandhi assassination incidents?” he asked claiming there were hundreds of incidents in which Congress leaders were involved but did not resign.
