Four arrested in Ludhiana blast pro
According to investigations, Gurprit Singh went to Pakistan last year and was trained for about a week in the handling of arms and explosives.
 INDIA , 31-December-2007  0:45:18 AM
Two months after a blast at the Shringar cinema in Ludhiana killed 6 people and injured 30 others, the Punjab police claim to have solved the case.

Four persons, including the alleged mastermind Gurprit Singh have been arrested and as per the police, belong to the terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International.

According to investigations, Gurprit Singh went to Pakistan last year and was trained for about a week in the handling of arms and explosives.

''After training in Pakistan they came back to India. Here they started motivating and recruiting people to target important religious leaders and carry of activities,'' said R K Jaiswal, SSP Ludhiana.

The Ludhiana police claim this module received nearly 24 kg of RDX from across the border earlier this year, through the Bikaner sector in Rajasthan.

This is being seen perhaps as an indication that attempts are being made to revive militancy in the state by some of the Punjab militants who are believed to have taken shelter in Pakistan.

''It was a serious and sincere effort to not exactly revive militancy but to show their presence,'' said R K Jaiswal, SSP Ludhiana.

The authorities claim to have solved the blast case, but what has emerged could give them sleepless nights.

Of the four persons arrested, two had went to Pakistan and much to the chagrin of the state police, training and intelligence reports suggest that there could be more such modules operational in Punjab.
