| National Security Advisor M K Narayanan has met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra to discuss the simmering crisis in the state.
Narayanan's visit comes after Centre's fresh attempts to start a dialogue process with the protestors hit a deadend. The situation is threatening to spiral out of control with both sides determined to intensify their protests.
The National Security Advisor is accompanied by Intelligence Bureau Director P C Haldar, Defence Secretary Vijay Singh and a Joint Secretary in the PMO.
The proposed march by separatists to Idgah in interior city on Friday also came up for discussion during the meeting, sources said.
The state government has renewed its invitation to Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti that is spearheading the agitation in Jammu for talks. This is the fourth time that such an invitation has been extended.
The Jail Bharo agitation in Jammu is into its third day on Wednesday. The administration has imposed curfew in the entire Jammu region.
But Srinagar and the rest of the Kashmir valley is expected to be calm like Tuesday as no protests are planned till Friday when the Hurriyat Conference has called a protest march
The traffic on Srinagar-Jammu national highway is smooth with essentials like food and petroleum products reaching both Jammu and Srinagar.
